When to Book Christmas Light Installation in Tampa
Published 5 September 2026 · 5 minute read
The short answer is now. Tampa’s holiday lighting calendar fills from the top down, and the best install dates are usually spoken for long before anyone thinks about a tree. Here is how the season actually works, and why 31 October is the date that matters this year.
Tampa’s Christmas light season starts in September
It catches people off guard. It is ninety degrees, the pool is still warm, and hurricane season has weeks left to run. Booking Christmas lights feels absurd. But professional holiday lighting is a design and scheduling business long before it is a ladder business, and the calendar behind it starts moving now.
Every display we install is designed for one specific house. That means measuring your rooflines, walking the yard, working out which trees are worth wrapping, and agreeing on the look before a single strand is cut. Lights are then made up to fit your home rather than pulled off a shelf. None of that happens on the morning of the install, and all of it takes calendar time that gets scarcer every week from here.
What fills up first
Not every date in the season is equal. Three things go first, every year:
- The run-up to Thanksgiving. Most people want their lights on and working for Thanksgiving weekend, which compresses a whole season’s worth of installs into a narrow window.
- Two-storey homes and steep rooflines. They need more crew hours and more care, so fewer of them fit into a day.
- Displays with serious tree work. Wrapped palm trunks and lit oak canopies are some of the best-looking work we do, and some of the slowest.
If your home falls into any of those, early booking is not a nice-to-have. It is the difference between the date you want and the date that is left.
What booking early actually gets you
- Your install date, not the leftover one. Book now and you choose the week. Book in November and the calendar chooses for you.
- Time to design properly. An unhurried walk-through is where the good decisions get made: warm white or colour, how far down the driveway to run, whether the oak out front carries the whole display.
- A calmer install. Off-peak installs are not rushed, and small changes on the day are easy to absorb.
- Time to sort the house first. More on that below.
But it is still hurricane season
Fair point, and it is the reason a lot of Tampa homeowners hold off. It should not stop you booking. Reserving a spot is a date in a diary, not lights on your roof in September, so there is nothing sitting outside waiting to catch a storm. Installation happens later in the autumn once the season has calmed down.

What the installation includes
The quote covers the whole season, not just the day the lights go up:
- Custom design for your rooflines, gables, peaks, trees, bushes and walkways, matched to the look you want.
- Professional installation using all-weather clips and weather-safe wiring. No staples, no nails, no holes in your home.
- Commercial-grade LED materials that hold their colour and brightness through a full Tampa Bay season.
- In-season monitoring and fast fixes if a strand or a bulb ever needs attention.
- Full takedown at the end of the season, removed cleanly, with guidance on storage for next year.

Common questions
When is the real deadline to book Christmas lights in Tampa?
There is no hard cut-off, but availability tightens sharply as the season goes on and the pre-Thanksgiving dates go first. Booking now gives you the widest choice of dates, and right now it also saves you $100.
Do I have to have the lights installed in October?
No. Booking and installing are two different things. Reserve your spot before 31 October to claim the $100 off, then we install on a date that suits you later in the season.
Do you provide the lights?
Yes. We provide commercial-grade LED lights, which are brighter, more durable and colour-matched across the display.
Will the installation damage my roof?
No. We use all-weather clips and fasteners designed for gutters, shingles and rooflines. We never use staples or nails, so there are no holes and no damage.
